01/05/2012: The Czech Government to Finance IT4Innovations’ Membership in the Prestigious PRACE International Network
Stemming from a decision reached in December 2011, the Government of the Czech Republic approved financial aid for the PRACE project within support provided to large infrastructure projects focused on research, experimental development and innovation.

On December 6, 2011 took place the first meeting of the Research Council of IT4Innovations.

12/08/2011: DHI and IT4Innovations Initiate Collaboration
In connection with the official opening of IT4Innovations, a new High Performance Computing Center in Ostrava, Czech Republic, DHI signed a collaboration agreement with the new center.

12/08/2011: Official opening conference IT4Innovations
The official opening conference of IT4Innovations was held on 29 November 2011. We were very pleased to see more than 500 attendees.

12/07/2011: PRACE Spring School 2012
A three-day event organized in Polish-Czech cooperation, where the participants will learn how to create efficient and scalable parallel codes for PRACE Tier-0 systems.

10/19/2011: Recruitment of IT4I Managing Director and the Head of Supercomputing Centre launched
On October 18, 2011 was launched in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports the process which will result in recruiting the most suitable candidates for the positions of Managing Director of IT4I and the Head of Supercomputing Centre. 07/11/2011: Handover ceremony of grant approval decision
On July 11, 2011 at 12:00 pm the Business Incubator at the VSB-Technical University of Ostrava held a handover ceremony of grant approval decision accompanied by a press conference.

06/21/2011: Project approved!!!
The IT4Innovations project has been approved by the European Commission!!!

04/04/2011: First meeting of IT4I team and students – ENTER IT4Innovations
On April 4, 2011 the New Auditorium of the VSB-TUO hosted the first of a regular series of meetings of the IT4Innovations team and the university. The interest of the students surpassed the expectations. VSB-TUO Rector Ivo Vondrák and his team presented a project of the Supercomputing Centre in Ostrava, its potential for the university, its individual faculties and the Moravian-Silesian Region as a whole. At the end of the meeting ten students selected by lot were presented with stylish gifts: Sony VAIO laptop, iPad, iPod etc. You are welcome to see the presentation, photos and a short video from the meeting.

11/02/2010: Informative workshop
On November 26, 2010 Informative workshop is held in the New Auditorium of the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava for the vendors and distributors of supercomputing technologies in the context of the CE IT4Innovations project. All interested vendors and providers of supercomputing technologies are welcome to attend.

06/28/2010: Information meeting – Notice for parties concerned with the Supercomputing Centre IT4Innovations project
Due to delays in the process of IT4Innovations Centre of Excellence project parameters’ specification with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, and the forthcoming holiday period, the planned information meeting, whose aim was to introduce to all interested parties the project of Supercomputing Centre IT4Innovations, was postponed until September/October 2010. 05/03/2010: Projects of VSB-Technical University of Ostrava to obtain over 3 billion CZK of R&D support
Research and development of VSB-Technical University of Ostrava will gain a significant financial support from the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations. At this moment, the university ranks among the most successful universities in the Czech Republic, as six projects out of eight submitted applications will most likely obtain support in volume exceeding 3 billion CZK.

04/09/2010: One step closer to funding
IT4Innovations Centre of Excellence advanced to the final stage of assessment of applications submitted to the OP R&DfI. The “major projects” category will now go through the phase of negotiations, and then the project applications will be submitted to the European Commission which will decide about the allocation of funds.

03/05/2010: IT4I project advances into international evaluation
The project of IT4Innovations CE has successfully passed the evaluation of application panel, and advances into the next stage – evaluation by international panel of experts.

11/15/2009: IT4I project application submitted
The project application of IT4Innovations Centre of Excellence for funding in the framework of the Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovations was submitted for evaluation to MEYS. First results of the evaluation process will be announced probably in February/March 2010.

06/11/2009: IT4Innovations supercomputing centre crosses regional borders
Moravian-Silesian Region creates a nation-wide unique partnership – thanks to the IT4Innovations project, comprising of a supercomputing centre and centre of excellence. Besides institutions seated in Ostrava, Northern Moravia, and Silesia, universities and enterprises form the whole Czech Republic are gradually entering the cooperation.
